

Norma Jean Broome, 82, of Greenville, South Carolina transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on August 7, 2024. The passing of a Mother, Grandmother, and Sister leaves a void in her family which cannot be filled. Norma Jean Broome, lovingly known as Mama Jean, was born on November 28, 1941 in Hickory, North Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Thomas and her father Benjamin Hefner. She is survived by her two children Kathy Grimsley, and Larry Grimsley (Kelly), four grandchildren, Jessica Allen (John), Tiffany Kilgo (Kevin), Ashley Grimsley, and Rachel Sims (Luke). She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Camden Allen, Taylor Allen, Phoenix Kilgo, Lilly Kilgo, Caleb Johnson, Ivey Sims, and Charley Sims. She leaves behind a brother, Lawrence Tomlinson (Lavinia) and niece and nephew, Troy and Stephanie and their respective families. Norma Jean also leaves behind a close family friend, David Best.
Norma Jean retired from Fiber Industries and Anchor Swan after dedicating twenty years plus of hard work to both companies. She was a beloved beautician who took great pride in herself and others. Norma Jean enjoyed sewing, and finding peace through creative avenues. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and watching them grow into the people they are today meant the world to her. She leaves behind a legacy that will last a lifetime to those who loved her.
Services for Norma Jean Broome will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The visitation will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and the funeral will begin promptly at 3:00 PM. Services will take place at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609.
The family will welcome friends of Norma Jean at the family home of her son Larry Grimsley in Greenville, South Carolina after the services.
