Patricia Cross Smith

Patricia Cross Smith, 83, passed away peacefully August 25, 2014. Born March 10, 1931 in Hugo, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Leamon Clark Cross and Clara Brown Cross and sister to the late Donald Clark Cross. Patricia was a loving mother, teacher, and friend. Her energy and enthusiasm were the envy of everyone she knew. She loved people and made friends wherever she went and she went absolutely everywhere! She traveled the world with family and friends. Her interests (and obsessions) were far reaching from crafts to history to politics to philosophy to genealogy to quilting to stamps—the list goes on and she loved doing it all! She was a whirlwind of a person and her family and friends have been gifted with so many memories of her enriching their lives with her excitement, interest, encouragement, and willingness to try anything and everything life had to offer. She played hard with her children and grandchildren, entertained them, loved them, and taught them to care about the world around them. Her family will always treasure these happy memories. Patricia is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Melinda J. Smith, of Greenville; her son, Michael A. Smith, of Weston, CT; and her four grandchildren, John F. Flanagan, Scott F. Flanagan, Michelle L. Smith and Benjamin L. Smith.|
