Robert (Bob) Kappel went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 23, 2021 at 10:30 in the evening. Bob was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a hard-working and generous provider, and a follower of Jesus Christ.
Bob was born in Zanesville, OH to Robert and Irene (Mullineaux) Kappel. In 1959 he graduated from Zanesville High School. On July 3, 1960 he wed his high school sweetheart, Peggy (Williams) Kappel. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and by his infant grandson David Matthew Campfield. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sister, Carole Miller; children, Michelle Levering (Mike), Todd Kappel (Joanne), Jodi Kappel and Joe Kappel (Lauren); grandchildren, Wendy and Matthew Campfield (Shenea), Daniel Levering (Ashley), Justin Kappel (Erin), Jonathan Kappel (Rachael), Ryan Kappel, Josiah, Elisabeth and Isobel Kappel; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack (Connie) Williams; sisters-in-law, Becky (Randy) Huntsman, Tina (Sam) Gillespie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Beloved spouse, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob loved spending time with his family and was always interested in updates to the ever-expanding family tree. Accepting Christ as his personal Savior as a young father, Bob encouraged his family to participate in local churches throughout the generations. Bob retired from the Planning Department of Ohio Power (AEP), followed by a second career in the Facilities Management Department at Bob Jones University. Bob enjoyed woodworking, worked as a high school soccer referee, and was a devoted life-long Ohio State Buckeyes Fan.
A memorial celebration will be held in Bob’s honor for the benefit of immediate family members. Please visit www.mackeywoodlawn.com to share your condolences and memories of Bob with his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the cause of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the mission agency or missionary of your choice.
