Roger C. Frederick, also known as “Rog,” entered Heaven on July 27, 2025, at the young age of 58. We rejoice knowing that he is with his Savior. He accepted Jesus at a young age while being raised in a Christian home in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. He attended Calvary Baptist Church and School. In high school, he won many awards for art and science projects and enjoyed playing Atari and ColecoVision. After graduating high school, he attended Bob Jones University, Liberty University, and Penn State University. At 21, he joined the Army and served our country as Military Intelligence in Desert Storm, followed by service in Turkey. He was discharged from active duty in 1993. Following his discharge, he used his artistic talent and worked for several companies in computer graphics and website design. Roger then went on to start his own contracting company, LightningHammer.
Throughout the years, Rog was the “fun” uncle who liked to spoil his niece and nephews by giving them cool electronics and playing video games with them. He babysat them when they were young and attended all their activities and family vacations. He also loved to cook for his family and could make a delicious meal from any available ingredients. Rog happily served his family as “tech support” for any issues that arose with devices and helped to care for his aging parents. His dogs, Snowball, Mysti, and Teddybear, were also very dear to him.
In his last moments on earth, Rog mentioned how he was trusting God’s plan for his life. His faith in Jesus had given him peace. He was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.
In addition to his niece and nephews, Roger C. Frederick is survived by his parents, Roger C. Frederick, Sr. and Sandra Frederick, as well as his brother, Jamin Frederick, and sister, Tricia Hartway.
Services for Roger will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with burial to follow in the park. A small reception will be held at his sister's home after the burial.
