

He was born on January 21, 1936 in Chatsworth, Georgia. The son of Floyd W. Wilbanks and Annie Norma Davis Wilbanks, Roland was a graduate of Murray County High School, attended North Georgia College, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in 1959. He majored in retailing and had a successful career as store manager and district manager with Kmart Corporation for 32 years.
Roland loved people and could connect with anyone. He loved hearing their stories and sharing his with them. Roland was a devoted husband and father. The delight of his life was his precious granddaughter, with whom he had a special bond.
He was a man of wisdom and integrity with a compassionate heart and a great sense of humor. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Having relocated often with Kmart, he and Evangeline were members of many different churches. He served the Lord as deacon and coordinator for the sanctuary guild. Most recently, he was a member of Covenant Church in Greer, SC. Roland was deeply thankful to the Lord for many blessings.
He is survived by Evangeline, his beloved wife of 64 years, son Reed Wilbanks (Anne), daughter Maria Stewart (Bill) and his granddaughter, Callie Stewart.
Visitation is set for 1 PM, Monday, November 11th at Covenant Church (1310 Old Spartanburg Road, Greer) with the service to follow at 2 PM. Pastors Darren Hook and Laura Geloni will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roland’s honor to Covenant Church (covenantgreer.org) or Bon Secours Hospice by Compassus 1836 W. Georgia Rd. Simpsonville, SC 29680.
