Ronald Arthur Batson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald “Ronnie” Batson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 80. He was known to family and friends for his warmth, kindness, and dedication to those he loved.

Ronnie was born on June 7, 1944, to Arthur and Lucille Batson (both predeceased). He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Batson; his daughter, Stacey Barton, and her husband, Chris Barton; his granddaughter, Madie, who affectionately called him "Nannies Pop"; his son, Scott Batson; and his sister, Shirley Cunningham and her husband, Joe.

Ronnie had a full and vibrant life. He shared a special bond with his wife, Sheila, and together, they enjoyed many years of square dancing. Ronnie was also a passionate fan of TarHeel basketball and a dedicated lover of trains. One of his greatest joys was watching his granddaughter, Madie, play soccer.

He was an active member of Brookwood Church, where he and Sheila cherished greeting church members every Sunday. His caring nature extended to everyone he met, and he will be remembered for his compassion, warmth, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mackey at Woodlawn (1 Pineknoll Dr., Greenville, SC 29609). A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the same location.

Ronnie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
