
He was a native of Woodruff, South Carolina, born on June 24, 1941. He was a devoted employee of the Greenville County School District for thirty years, retiring as Director of Operations in 1993.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch C. and Lottie (nee Sherbert) Goodwin; his first wife, Gwendolyn (nee Danby) with whom he shared two sons and raised a foster son; and his second wife, Harriet Oliver (nee Parris) with whom he shared in the raising of her two sons.
Ronald leaves behind sons, Samuel Goodwin (Claudia) and Richard Goodwin (Lacy); foster son, John Loftis; and sons by marriage, William Oliver and John Oliver (Lauren). He also leaves grandchildren, Andrew (Nakita), Samuel (River), Robert, Gwendolyn and Katherine Goodwin; and Sarah and William Oliver. Great-grandchildren include, Starlyn, Kaylyn, Hunter, Sebastian, Charlie, Wyatt, Serenity, Genesis, Harmony, Aaron, Ethron, James and Maeve. Plus great-great-grandchild, Theodore.
At Ronald’s request, no formal services will be held. A private memorial will be celebrated at an appropriate time as selected by his children. He will be buried beside his first wife in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to United Way of Greenville County are appreciated.
