

Ruth Maxine Bingham Nichols, 97, of Greer, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021. She was born November 3, 1924, in Clayton, Georgia. Ruth was the widow of William “Bill” Nichols.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Park Place Church of God for sixty years. She was a faithful member and in her younger years was very active in Sunday School and other church activities. Ruth was employed as a kindergarten teacher for Boynton’s Kindergarten and Day Care and Trinity Lutheran Child Development Center. She retired after 31 years. After retirement, Ruth enjoyed growing vegetables and beautiful flowers. Her greatest joys were her family and her love for the Lord Jesus.
Ruth is predeceased by brothers; Floyd Bingham, Bill Bingham, Rev. Harold Bingham, sister; Ruby Hill and daughter, Kandi Guzzetta. Ruth is survived by sisters; Mary Francis White and Catherine Wilson and daughters; Carolyn (Thad) Herbert, Joyce Fowler, Janice Jones (Butch, deceased), Kathy Watts (Frank, deceased). She has two stepchildren, William Nichols Jr., and Linda Richey. Other family members include grandchildren; Brent Buckner, Ashley de Roos, Brian Fowler, Brad Fowler, Laurie Harvey, Kristen Burden, Frankland Watts, Nicholas Watts, and 18 great grandchildren.
We are so thankful for the recent care provided by Pathway Hospice and to the staff at Brookdale Brushy Creek Senior Living for their kindness, love, and attention to our mother for the past 5 years.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pathway Hospice, LLC, 355 Woodruff Road Suite 201, Greenville, SC 29607 or to Brookdale Brushy Creek Senior Living, 2010 Brushy Creek Road, Greer, SC 29650 in memory of Ruth Nichols designated for the residents’ activities fund.
