Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Sarah was the daughter of the late William Haskell and Hazel Painter Garrett. She loved bowling and participated in a league for over 20 years, and bowled a 242 at the age of 85. In addition, she enjoyed traveling with her family to the beach in the summer and Gatlinburg in the fall. She was a great cook, and with her co-workers at Greenville County Schools, she taught the owner of Ryan’s Steakhouse her recipe for their famous yeast rolls.
Sarah is survived by her children, Michael B. Rector, Joan Ann Henderson, and Judy Ann Stanley, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Proctor B. Rector, sister, Doris Garrett Blakely, and brother, William Calvin Garrett.
A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 10:00 am at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park,1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
