

Scott Bernard Osteen, 46, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Scott was born March 24, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas at the Wilford Hall USAF Hospital. He was the son of Mary Ann Newell and Doctor Frank Bernard Osteen. He was a resident of Greer, SC since 1987. Scott is survived by his mother and father, his children, Jayson Scott and Stephanie Paige Osteen, his brother David Osteen, and former wife Joyce Marie Osteen. Also surviving are aunt and uncle Fred Marion and Ruth Souther Osteen and cousins Ruth Anne Prater and Fred Marion Osteen, III. Also surviving are aunt Joyce Sendler and cousins David Sendler and Janice Plunkett; uncle and aunt Edward and Jane Sendler, and cousins Steve and Nancy Sendler; aunt Carolyn and cousins Richard and Scott Sendler; aunt and uncle Jean and Bill Ayers and cousins Mike, Mark, and Keith Elliott; and uncle and aunt Charles and Lynn Sendler. Scott grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he excelled in several sports and outdoor activities. Scott distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete at an early age and was known as a fierce competitor. Scott enjoyed a life full of sports, being a father, coaching little league, fishing, and growing in his faith. Scott accepted Christ in 1993 and continued to share his love for Christ throughout his struggles in life. On the coming of his last days, he was a disciple at New Start Ministries where he professed his faith and love for Christ openly. Often times he would spend hours in deep prayer and meditate on the word of God. Many called him a walking Bible and he taught many the importance of trusting God under all circumstances, never once losing faith despite the battle he fought day in and day out. The memorial service will be held at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 306 North Franklin Road, Greenville, SC 29609 on Thursday, April 3.
