Sharon Kay McCubbin, of Five Forks, passed away on April 17, 2026 at the age of 70. She was a loving wife, mom, and Granny. She and Greg built a life together over 49 years of marriage that was full of faith, love, service to others, and the joy of being outdoors. A dedicated Christian, Sharon lived out her faith daily by serving others with humility, generosity, and love.
She was well known for her baking and cooking, and countless people across multiple states were blessed by her handmade blankets and quilts, home-cooked meals, and her generous heart. From teaching hundreds of babies to starting video ministries at multiple churches, she has impacted thousands of people through her behind the scenes service. After her own battles with cancer, her empathy and concern for others increased; she was always working to draw people into fellowship and service and to find ways for each to use their skills.
Her grandchildren were the highlights of her life. She cherished hosting “Granny Camp” each summer, planning daily activities and adventures and making sure they had the best week all together. She loved making trips to see them whether in baseball games or dance recitals! She believed love was shown through feeding others - and cooking with her grandkids was something they all cherished (and also explains the 16 pounds of butter in the fridge!)
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Greg McCubbin; her children, Mike & Grace McCubbin, Taryn & Chris Brodie, Stephen & Erin McCubbin, and Morgan & Tim Lavender; her beloved grandchildren, Cutter, Grayson, Keeghan, and Cameron; and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lois Arnold.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, generosity, and love for her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 3pm at Golden Strip Church of Christ in Simpsonville, SC.
