Susan Deen Simmons passed away December 29, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Susan was born in Bombay, India on December 21, 1940. Subsequently, as a child she moved to Cooperstown, N.Y. She attended Bennett College and graduated from Gibbs College in New York City where she lived until she moved to Greenville, S.C.
Ms. Simmons was predeceased by her mother, Emilie B. Powers. She is survived by her sister, Laura Lee Simmons Smith, and nephews, Samuel W. Smith IV and William M. Smith (Charlotte, N.C.), and one niece, Susan Smith deHoll (Sumter, S.C.). She is also survived by a dear friend, Kaye Curtis.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N. Church St., Greenville, SC, 29601.
