

Travelers Rest, SC - Tamara Star Young, 54, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 as a result of a chronic illness. Born in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of the late Bobby Marchman and Barbara Grier, she was raised in Athens GA and lived most of her life in Travelers Rest, SC.
Ms. Young was a homemaker and an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. She loved to crotchet, color mandalas and shared a love for fishing with her son, Jonathan. Ms. Young enjoyed spending time with her family and being a grandmother to Kevin and Abbie. True to her name, Star burned hot and bright and warmed our hearts. Although her time on this earth has faded, her memory shines ever brighter in the legacy of her children and those that loved and knew her.
Ms. Young leaves behind her husband, James Young of Travelers Rest, SC; her mother Barbara Grier of Hoschton, GA; her daughter Amber Mardis of Travelers Rest, SC; her sons Jonathan Young and James Mardis of Travelers Rest, SC; one sister, Tonie Mason of Belews Creek, NC; three brothers, Tom Grier of Hoschton, GA, Ty Grier of GA, and Jason Grier of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren Kevin and Abbie; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Service with reception will begin at 2pm on Sunday, 22 May 2016 at Mackey Mortuary at 311 Century Dr., Greenville, SC.
