

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Carl Walter and Grace Carpenter Garrison.
Mrs. Lindler, an alumnae of Greenville High School, was a 1942 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Furman University. She was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and The Music Club of Greenville. A lifelong musician, she played the piano for the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class for over 40 years. As a piano teacher, she planted a love for music in the hearts of her many students.
Surviving is her daughter, Janet Lindler McDonald of Simpsonville; two grandsons, Zachary (Cher) and Andrew McDonald; one great-grandson, Alex McDonald; and one great-granddaughter, Shelby McDonald; a special niece, Dr. Ann Anshus Quattlebaum and her family; and a special friend, Joel Smart. Virginia also leaves numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Garrison Huff and son-in-law, the Rev. Steven Randolph McDonald.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:30 pm, in the Chapel of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Grover Putnam officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private inurnment will follow in Springwood Cemetery at a later date.
