William A. Moore

Born in West Blocton, AL, on August 19, 1927, he was the son of the late William T. and Lennie Collins Moore. Bill was married to his devoted wife Norma West Moore for 58 years. She preceded him in death in 2005.

A graduate of Massey Business College, Bill began a long term construction career with Hardaway Contracting Co., Daniel Construction, and retired from Fluor Corp. Upon retirement, he enjoyed a second career with Wholesale Glass Distributing until his health declined. Through his working career, he made 14 major moves with his family. Bill was a Mason, a member in good standing for over 65 years, of the Cherokee Lodge #66, Rome, GA. He was a member of First Baptist, Greenville for over 33 years.

Surviving are his son, W. Glen Moore (Kathy); one daughter, Carol M. Christy (J.R.); four grandchildren, Russell M. Christy, C. Marie Christy Carpenter (Steven); Markus G. Moore (Lauren) and Ann Christy Godfrey (Will); five great grandchildren, Liam and Drew Godfrey; Heidi and Grant Moore; and Georgia Ann Carpenter. Extended family includes sister-in-law, Annette Carpenter; brother-in-law Charles West (Dorothy); and Thien Quang Pham (Ann), and daughters, Kim and Kathy.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 3:00pm in the Carpenter Chapel at First Baptist Greenville with Dr. Jeffery Rogers and Reverend Kendra Plating officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville.
