William Harold Thomson

William “Harold” Thomson, Sr, age 85, of Greer, SC passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Harold was born in Greenville, SC to the late Charlie Lide Thomson and Edna Horne Thomson. Harold served proudly in the Navy and was a member of Grace Christian Church. He retired from Roadway with Teamsters Union.

Harold loved spending time with family. He had a big smile for everyone he met and was always a joy to be around. He had a talent to capturing the moment with his camera special taking pictures of animals like birds and deer.

Harold was predeceased by his three sons: William “Billy” Harold Thomson, Jr., Michael Glenn Thomson and Bobby Joe Thomson; a brother, Charlie Lide Thomson, Jr.; He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joyce Thomson; children: Steven Christopher Irby and Laura Michelle Bates; in addition, Russell Few who was like a son; grandchildren: William Chad Thomson and his wife Marilyn, Jerry Paul Baretta Morgan and his wife Cindy, Laurissa Arrington, Milissa Beckwith, Karla Barbery and Jordan Bates; great grandchildren: William “CJ” Chad Thomson, Owan Leblank, Kari Morgan, Halie Morgan. Harold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation for William will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A funeral service will occur at 2:00 PM followed by a committal service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made at the Grace Christian Church, PO Box 190
