A devoted Christian, Wynell was a charter member of Pelham Road Baptist Church. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, retiring from both Life of Virginia and Emergency Preparedness of Greenville County. Wynell had a deep love for life’s simple joys—flowers, rainy days, beach music, and Christmas. Above all, she cherished her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Oliver Long, son Clay Long, and parents Eunice and Abner Chastain.
She is survived by her son Scott Hughes Long, daughter in law Sheila Long, and her sister Eyvonne Sherwood (David). Also grandsons Robert Charles Walden (Krystle), Levi McKinnley Long (Kaylee), granddaughter Eliza Long Smith (Wheeler), great grandson Henry "Hank" Walden and great granddaughter Stevie Smith.
Services for Wynell will be held on Friday, August 29th, 2025 in the mausoleum chapel at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM in the mausoleum.
