

Constantine Sophocles Dadakis died Tuesday evening May 25th, just 3 days shy of his 97th birthday, at Greenwich Hospital surrounded by his children. Known as Dean, he was born in New York City on May 28, 1913 to the late Dr. Sophocles and Chryssi Zonars Dadakis. Dr. Dadakis was the founder of the pan-Hellenic Union in America. Dean spent his formative years in Mount Vernon, NY where he graduated from Mount Vernon High School. He was a 1934 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During World War II he was part of essential industry as an engineer with The Union Carbide Corporation. He developed several patents including one that is still used today. He continued his career at Union Carbide for over 40 years taking on a variety of executive roles. After his retirement from Union Carbide, he worked with Howmet Pecheny in Greenwich and subsequently Howmet Turbine. He married the former Marjann Anzmann in 1952 and they raised their family in Greenwich. He and his wife were long time members of The Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY. He was predeceased by his wife in 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Chryssi Dadakis of Greenwich and Carol Dadakis McKeever (Peter) of New Canaan; a son Edward Dean Dadakis of Greenwich, a brother George Sophocles Dadakis of Harrison, NY and two grandchildren Katherine Margaret McKeever and Peter Constantine McKeever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 29th at 10am at St. Michael’s the Archangel Church 469 North Street Greenwich.
