
She went to Fashion Academy in New York City and received a degree in Fashion Design. Ellen worked in the Garment Center and became a designer of wedding gowns for Sabrina Bridals.
She had her Gowns featured in Modern Bride and The Women's Wear Daily.
After working in New York, she wanted to own a Bridal Shop with hard work she opened a shop on the Post Road in Cos Cob. In it she carried Bridal, Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride and Accessories for the Bride and Debutantes.
In later years she was a member of The St. Catherine Seniors, The Columbiettes of Stamford Knights of Columbus, and The Women's Club of Greenwich. She travelled with them all over the country and Broadway.
She edited and printed the Class of 1955 Newsletter and arranged Four luncheons a year for her Classmates. Over the Year's she volunteered at the Cos Cob Library, St.Mary's Guild, St. Catherine's Guild, The Greenwich Woman's Club where she was on the board and filled many positions. She was also part of The Columbiettes where she was Vice President, and President and other positions, The Greenwich Seniors Club and The Social Seniors of St. Catherine. Her passions were her daughter Terese Louise, history and the Stock Market.
She is survived by Terese Louise Topo and many Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Louise Petrone Mediate, two brothers, Frank Mediate and Joseph Mediate and her husband William A Mancini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sienna, in Riverside Connecticut. Please check back for date and time.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cos Cob Library and The Greenwich Hospital. The Services have been entrusted to Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home.
