Ingrid Caffrey

Ingrid (Gustafsson) Caffrey of Greenwich, 65, beloved mother, grandmother and wife died peacefully on Thursday May 24, 2012 following complications with melanoma cancer. She was born in Bronxville , NY on December 13, 1946 to Jean and Thure “Charlie” Gustafsson. She was raised in Eastchester , NY and attended Eastchester High School where she was a cheerleader for the Eagles. Ingrid will be remembered for the legacy of kindness and fun that she brought to her life. She was an avid tennis fan and member of the Burning Tree Country Club woman’s team. She was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School , but later in life achieved her PhD in Giving. In recent years, her favorite job was running “ Camp Meena ” for her grandkids. She spent Mothers Day weekend surrounded by her family, celebrating her 39th wedding anniversary and enjoying chocolate soufflé at Valbella. She is survived by her husband Edward, her daughter Kirsten, her two sons Scott and Sean, her brother James, and her four grandchildren: Sophia, Adeline, Noelle and Jakob. Calling hours will be held from 4-8pm on Monday May 28th at Gallagher and Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11am on Tuesday May 29th at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Riverside, CT. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking those who wish to make a gift in remembrance to do so with the Westchester Jewish Community Services where her brother resides. The website is www.wjcs.com.
