Joan Davidson

Joan Orteig Davidson died peacefully on Monday evening, November 14, 2011. Mrs. Davidson, a 41-year resident of Greenwich, was born on March 13, 1919 in New York City to Jules Pierre Orteig and Marguerite Brennan.

She lived in Westchester for much of her early life. She was a graduate of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, and attended Marymount and Manhattanville colleges. For many years she was a real estate broker with Smith, Hekker and Collins in Greenwich which eventually became part of Coldwell Banker.

Mrs. Davidson was predeceased by her loving husband, John Rudolph Davidson, her son, William Norris Davidson, her sisters, Marguerite Blish and Celeste Andruss, and her brothers, Jules and Theodore Orteig.

She is survived by her devoted children, John Kevin Davidson (Susan) of Darien, Jennifer Davidson of Del Mar, CA, Gary Davidson (Eileen) of New Rochelle, NY, Margo Grunden (Eric) of Darien,

Scott Davidson (Janet) of Stamford and Christopher Davidson (Mary Lou) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Leo Gallagher and Sons Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 10 am at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Riverside, CT. Internment at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
