Laura Payne Lowe of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Laura was born in Chapel Hill, NC on January 18, 1962 to Judith F. Honey and John B. Payne.
After graduating from Roger Sherman Elementary School, Tomlinson Junior High School and Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield, CT, Laura received a BA degree in Retail Management from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. A former Manager at Macy's in Stamford, CT, Laura was the Bridal Manager at Hoagland's of Greenwich for 23 years until her retirement. She organized bridal registries for over two thousand brides and grooms, many of whom stayed in touch with her long after their weddings.
Beyond her professional life, Laura loved to travel, especially in New England and the Carolinas to satisfy her passion for antiquing and regional cuisine. She also found tremendous joy in rug hooking, knitting, and gardening along with being a voracious reader. Her boundless love for family and the kindness and generosity she offered equally to friends and strangers are her greatest legacies.
Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, John (J.B.) Lowe III, her mother and stepfather, John H. Honey, father and stepmother, Dorothy C. Payne, her brother Andrew Payne (Ann), sister Emily Hamilton (Matt) and 16 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Charles Payne.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 469 North Street, Greenwich, CT.
