KANE, Marianne (Mimi) Hanson. was born June 17th, 1927 in Greenwich, CT to Nellie Kristine and Hermann Hanson. Mimi passed away on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 very peacefully and in no pain with her family by her side at the Regional Hospice facility in Danbury, CT. She was a proud resident of Greenwich for 80 years, until moving to Redding, CT with her daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. She attended Greenwich schools and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1945. Mimi worked as the Executive Legal Assistant for the Town of Greenwich Law Department for a large part of her secretarial career. Her position working with the Town was always a proud passion to her and never a job, which was evident by her continued Friday tenure at Town Hall until she was 84 years old. She married the love of her life, Dr. John (Jack) J. Kane and began their amazing life together in Greenwich. Her grandchildren summed up this gracious woman’s life in their perfect words. From her grandson, John, “MorMor taught me how to be kind and treat everyone in the world equally. For those of us who were lucky enough to know her, MorMor radiated love, as though it was just part of her soul. You will forever inspire me to be the best I can be, and to help everyone I see”. And from her granddaughter, Hannah, “Today heaven just gained another angel. She was one of the strongest women I knew and had unlimited love to give. Her kind, warm heart, just spread to every person she knew or to those who came to our home. You are in a better place now, and with your husband who will love you and guide you to the right place. We love you with all our hearts and miss you so much”.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and R. Stephen Walsh, Jr.; her 2 grandchildren, John (“Jack”) and Hannah; 2 nieces; Lynn and Carol Chamberlain as well as numerous extended “family”. She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. John (Jack) Kane, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) and Gordon Chamberlain.
