MARY WINEFRED BOHACS, 84, long-time member of the Greenwich community, entered unto eternal life on January 4, 2011. Born in New York City to the late Philip and Mary (Naughton) Tuite, she was reared in New Rochelle, NY and was graduated from Isaac Young High School. She was a caring mother and active parishioner of St Mary Parish where she served as a Scout leader and Eucharistic Minister. Mary delighted in her extended family and friends, never missing a party or gathering if she could help it, and all were made warmly welcome in her home. Following her retirement from D.W. Rogers, where she kept her finger on the pulse of local births and baptisms, Mary volunteered with the Ladies Guild, Greenwich Red Cross, and worked at the polls for many elections-- in between time at the beach and on road trips with her family and friends that she loved so much. Mary will be greatly missed by Julius, her husband of 56 years, and by her four children: Kevin and wife, Susan (Houston, TX); Susan, husband Gary, and grandson Alex (Naples, FL); Kenneth, and Nancy (Greenwich). Her brother, Robert Tuite, died in 2009.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 7 at Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St, Greenwich, CT. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 8 at 10 a.m. at St Mary Catholic Church, 178 Greenwich Av, Greenwich, CT 06830. Tel 203 869 9393. Interment will follow at St Mary Cemetery, 399 North St, Greenwich, CT. All are invited to attend a reception celebrating her life after the service at St Mary Church.
We thank all the people who helped her through her illness: Stacey Pottinger, Robert Dixon, Dr Glasser, Dr Brown, Dr Murphy, and the caring staff and volunteers at Greenwich Hospital MSICU and Nathaniel Witherall, as well as her many friends and family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, 4 Horseneck Ln, Greenwich, CT 06830.
