

Nora Marron Loughran, 78, of Monroe, formerly of Greenwich, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, with her family by her side, after a courageous two year battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter J. Loughran. Nora was born on January 19, 1933 to the late Thomas and Mary Kate (Butler) Marron. She grew up in Stamford and moved to Greenwich where she devoted her life to raising her five children. She was a long time member of the Greenwich Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, serving as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She worked for many years as a private duty CNA at Wilton Meadows. Nora will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren: her son Peter, of Salem, Massachusetts, and his children Brianne and Brendan Loughran of Virginia; son Kevin (Susie), of Lake Worth, FL, and their children, Kerry of London, England, Kyle and Kevin Loughran of Florida; daughter Maureen Shimko-Longcoy (Jim), of Newtown, and her children Ronald of NYC, Brian and Nora Lynn Shimko of Newtown; daughter Nora (Louis) of Monroe, and their children Steven, Megan, Timothy and John Treschitta of Monroe; and son Robert (Kristin) of Ridgefield and their children Katey and Sarah Loughran of Ridgefield. She is also survived by her sister Eileen Macklin of Boynton Beach, Florida, and brothers Thomas Marron (Elaine) of San Jose, California and James Marron (Pam Boynton) of Boynton Beach Florida. She was predeceased by her brother Jerry Marron. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to a charity of your choice or the Connecticut Hospice of Branford, CT. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 5 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry Street, Byram. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Calling hours are on Thursday, August 4 from 4-8 PM at Leo P. Gallagher and Sons, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich.
