

Peter W. Kontes, Principal of Greenwich Advisory Group, co-founder and former chief executive of Marakon Associates, and author of The Value Imperative and The CEO, Strategy, and Shareholder Value, has died. He was sixty-five years old.
Mr. Kontes, a recognized leader in maximizing company value and shareholder returns, also served as an Executive in Residence and Distinguished Faculty Fellow at the Yale Graduate School of Management.
Peter graduated from Yale University with a BA in History in 1970, and received his MBA in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley.
In addition to his considerable success and leadership in the business world, Mr. Kontes was highly respected and much loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Alex, of Greenwich, Connecticut; his parents, Helen M. Kontes of Palm City, Florida, and William C. Kontes of Jupiter, Florida; and his brother, C. William Kontes (Iris) of Hobe Sound, Florida. He is also survived by his nieces, Alexa Kontes, Zoe Kontes, and Laura Kontes Ames, and his nephew, William C. Kontes, among many other beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Elaine Allen Kontes.
Peter’s family was the focal point of his life. He also enjoyed a strong and long-lasting friendship with a group of his Yale classmates, and always looked forward to their annual outings. He will be greatly missed by all.
