Rosanne Higgins passed away Wednesday, June 15th, surrounded by her family and friends. Born March 21, 1944 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Rosanne’s unique intellectual curiosity and empathy for children made her a beloved elementary school teacher up and down the Northeast Coast, including the Julian Curtis Elementary School in Greenwich, Connecticut. She met her husband, Thomas Higgins, at a wedding of mutual friends, and they remained inseparable for 48 years. Known to her friends and loved ones as “Ro”, she was a shepherding influence on her husband and two sons. Additionally, Ro was an active member of the Greenwich community, dedicating much of her time to the philanthropic activities of the Knollwood Garden Club, including her volunteer work at the Nathaniel Witherell home and fundraisers for the Breast Cancer Alliance. Ro’s lively wit and vivacious spirit will be dearly missed by the countless lives she touched, especially the dynamic sisterhood she created with her close friends. She is survived by her husband, Tom, her sons Brian and Brendan, and Brian’s wife Rebekka. The wake will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich on June 24th from 4pm to 8pm, and a funeral mass will follow at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside on June 25th at 10AM. Ro received incredibly loving and compassionate nursing care in her final days, so in that spirit, please consider a donation to Fairfield County Hospice House at www.fchospicehouse.org or to the Northern Westchester Hospital Cancer Center in Mount Kisco, New York.
