Corporal Bill Cooper, 66, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Fort Smith. He was a corporal with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Funeral will be 10 am Tuesday, August 16 at the Fort Smith Convention Center with interment at Oak Cemetery in Ft. Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Arkansas.
Viewing will be Monday from 2-8 pm at the Greenwood First Baptist Church, where the family will visit with friends from 5-8 pm.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cooper; a son, Scott Cooper of Bokoshe, Oklahoma; a sister, Ginger Cox of Van Buren and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Cooper.
Pallbearers will be the Sebastian County Sheriff Office Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be all law enforcement officers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deputy Bill Cooper Memorial Fund set up at Farmers Bank, the American Cancer Society, 5434 Walsh Lane, Rogers, AR 72758 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Bill’s favorite flower was the rose.
