Billy Ray Phelan, 84, of Bonanza, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in his home. He was born October 5, 1939 in Keota, Oklahoma to Richard and Elsie Phelan. He was retired from Rheem and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had a country jamboree that he went around and played music at the nursing homes in Spiro and Poteau.
He is survived by four sons, Richard Phelan, Shawn Phelan, Steve Bullard and Kevin Bullard; three daughters, Debbie Overstreet, Billie Mannion and Angela Birdsell; twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Phelan; one daughter, Darlene Garrett; three brothers, Sam and Buel Nixon and Melvin Phelan and two sisters, Tiny Freeman and Bertie Williams.
Graveside service will be 12 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at White Bluff Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
