

Billy Orr Turnipseed, 82, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born in Midland, Arkansas on January 19, 1930 to Silas Russell “Red” and Altia Almeda Orr Turnipseed. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was retired from the Tool and Die Department at Whirlpool, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Razorback fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Turnipseed; a brother, Russell Turnipseed, Jr. and three sisters, Betty Lewis, Joan Clem and Pat Bercher.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
He is survived by one brother, Dewey Turnipseed, Sr.; two sisters, Dixie Strunk and husband, Reggie of Midland and Linda Collins and husband, George of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Collins, Phil Walker, Mark Turnipseed, Billy Turnipseed, Scott Dugan and Steve Turnipseed. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Sewell, Scott Stewart, Chris Turnipseed and Bill Dugan.
