Columbus J. Wheeler “Bobby” of Huntington, Arkansas entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 12, 2016 at age 64. Bobby was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 6, 1952 to Chris and June Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Laura Gallander and two brothers, David Wheeler and Shane Wheeler.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Elnora Wheeler; one son, Clint Wheeler and his wife, Amanda; seven grandchildren, Tuesday Wheeler of the home, Chris and Faith Gann, Andy and Ezra Wilson and Kealey and Elizabeth Symonds; one brother, Ronald Wheeler of Benton, Arkansas; three sisters, Alexis Sawyer of Alma, Arkansas, Shannon Chastain of Muskogee Oklahoma and Penny Rossen; his brother-in-law who was always a big help during Bob’s last days, Myrl Gallander of Muldrow, Oklahoma and numerous family and friends.
Some of Bobby’s life achievements include graduating from Tallequah Vo-Tech School in 1973 to become a ace mechanic. There was nothing he could not fix; if it was not running, broken or needed fixed, it got done. Bobby’s favorite places to work over the years were with Archie Stafford laying carpet for Walmart all over the United States, a Marshall at Ben Geren Park and mechanic at Eagle Crest Country Club and Fianna Hills Country Club. Bobby’s past-time enjoyments were motorcycle riding, golfing, fishing, camping and deer hunting, and watching boxing, NASCAR and Motocross.
Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We would like to thank all the staff at Mercy Hospital, where Bobby made a lot of new friends who touched his heart and made him feel special over the years, and who were there until the end. He loved you all very much and he talked highly of you.
Thank you to Mercy Clinic in Mansfield, Carmen, Cindy and Dianna.
Thank you to Dr. Michael Coleman, Jr for giving us more time with him, and to the staff at Fort Smith Regional Dialysis Center. Also, thank you to the Mercy Hospice Staff. You went above and beyond.
Bobby’s wishes were that there be no service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Arkansas; a special thank you to Jackie Davis.
