I remember the times spent with Mr. Charles and his family through my parents and their association with the Masons and Eastern Star. Please accept my sincerest condolences and prayers.

You have left your mark on so many Scouts through the years that are now outstanding young men.  God speed Uncle Charlie.

Cippy, you may not remember me from so long ago.  We used to be in Rainbow Girls together while our parents where together at Riverside Lodge.  What wonderful memories were made back then.  You and your sisters are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

My Scouts (2 boys and a girl) and I first knew Uncle Charley when the oldest attended day camp as a tiger and I was a first year volunteer. We all feel that Uncle Charley was the absolute essence of the Scout Oath and Law. He was an example to all of us. The "kids"--Chris, Susan (Sam), and Joseph--join me in saying that he will be missed.

I am the grandaughter of Harold and Bobbie Costelow. My grandparents lived across the street from Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt for years. I have very fond memories of visiting with Charles and Pearl and helping in the garden. On behalf of myself and my family we offer our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

The memory of Uncle Charley will burn forever in my heart.  He was much loved.  His love of scouting and others will be remembered.  I was one of his nurses that he got to staff the health lodge at RSR.  I will never forget the smiling tennis ball he left to greet me on my arrival.  He has caused me to aspire to be like him as I age in my scouting career.  Uncle Charley was truly a great man and always gave his best to others.  Thank you for sharing him with us.

No person I know exemplies the Scouting spirit as much as Uncle Charley.  When Uncle Charley walked into our scout meetings, the boys went to greet that smiling face with the hearing aids sounding off.  The boys could feel his love for them and the passion he had for them to teach them a skill or just to be a better scout.  I know of no other person that is loved by so many boys (many of which are young men now).
I am a better person, a better scout, and a better Christian having known and loved Uncle Charley.  He gave and gave and gave, showing all of us the importance of giving.
I will miss him.

I am saddened to hear the news of "Uncle Charley".  He was such a fixture at all of our Scouting events for so many years. I doubt that anyone since Baden Powell loved Scouting more.  He was instrumental in the building and equipping of the health lodge at Rogers Scout Reservation and manned it himself for countless camping events.  He taught literally thousands of us how to retire the American flag with honor and respect and none of us can participate in a flag retirement ceremony without thinking of him.  
I will think of him being at the heavenly campfire, sharing stories and able to hear everything that is said!!

We are sorry to hear about Charles. While we will not be able to attend the memorial our hearts, prayers, and deepest sympathy are with the Pruitt families. Memories of Charles include those from my first move to Yankeetown (I was 14 years old at the time) and include Charles and Pearls wedding. We always enjoyed seeing them at the reunions along with the extended families. Michael has a picture "The Medic" upon his office wall at home of Charles in his scout master uniform.
