Douglas Garr, 78, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 in his home. He was an expediter for 34 years at Whirlpool, member and secretary for 35 years for Meno’s Bible Class and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 24 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sissy Garr; one son, Robert Garr of Vian, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kimberly Thacker and husband, Dwight of Lampe, Missouri; one brother, Randall Garr of Dean Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Wanda Wait of Alma, Arkansas; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Juanita Garr, a son, Paul Alan Martin and his daughter, Cassie Lawson.
Pallbearers will be PeeWee Qualls, Danny Bynum, Tyler Nicodemus, Nic Nicodemus, Keith Glass, Earl Terry and Kevin Garr. Honorary pallbearers will be Meno’s Bible Class.
