Gary Carter, born November 26, 1940 passed to a better life April 22, 2025. Gary was born in Jenny Lind, Arkansas to Chester (Boley) and Blanche Carter. He attended Greenwood High School and was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday School for many years. After graduation, he served in the US Army for four years. He worked at Baldor Electric before going into law enforcement and security work at Sparks hospital.
Gary loved the Lord and was well versed in God’s Word. He also enjoyed playing his music, especially the banjo, and he sang with two Gospel groups - The Challengers and The Gospelaires.
He married Norma (Black, Smith) Carter in 1967 and they were married until her passing in 2005.
Gary and his brothers always enjoyed their time together and they looked forward to the days spent at their hunting cabin. “Pa”, as he was called by the grandkids and great grandchildren, loved his family. He was a prayer warrior for his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, his parents and brothers, Charles and Troy Carter. He is survived by his children, Pam (John) Bloemhof, Brad (Lisa) Smith, Wayne Carter and Buffy (Wade) Bennett; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; his brothers, JH (Nancy) Carter and Randy (Nita) Carter and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Family visitation will be after the service.
