Gavin Isaiah Griffith

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, May 8, at Eastside Baptist Church in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, where the family will visit with friends from 3 – 5 p.m.

Gavin was born June 30, 2003 in Fort Smith. He was in the 8th grade through Homeschool and loved studying history, science and political activism. Gavin enjoyed building Lego creations, camping, collecting knives, going for walks with his family, riding his bike, and paddle boarding. He dreamed of being proficient in every instrument he could get his hands on and played the guitar, melodica, and harmonica, but his passion was the piano.

Gavin was a special young man who almost always had a smile on his face, who loved to tell jokes and just make people laugh. He would serve others without complaint and never seemed to have a bad day. Gavin’s passion was relationships with friends and family and he held back nothing from those who came in contact with him. Gavin will be missed every day, especially his sweet heart and friendly demeanor. We were not ready to say goodbye, but we are grateful to the Lord for the wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. Gavin will forever remain in our hearts.

Gavin is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Deana (Mooney) Griffith; sister and her husband Sammie and Enoch Hein; sister Jozie Griffith; maternal grandparents David “Papa” and Susie “Nana” Bergstrom; paternal grandmother Miria “Meme” Griffith ; uncle Josh Mooney and his girlfriend Janet Moore; uncle and his wife Eric and Angie Mooney, aunt and her husband Norma and Ralf Krahe, uncle and his wife Gregory and Julie Griffith, and aunt Melinda Robertson; cousins Amber, Alex, Nils, Erik, Hannah, Richie, Savannah, and Hudson; his family dog Gunner; and extended family, church family and friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Richard G. Mooney, Jr and paternal grandfather Norman “Pepaw” Griffith.

Pallbearers will be Josh Mooney, Richie Mooney, Nils Krahe, Erik Krahe, Alex Gertz, and Macksimus Burke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gregory Griffith and Eric Mooney.
