Isaac Witt, 83, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Fort Smith. He graduated from Mansfield, Arkansas High School, where he was an All State/All Star High School Football Player. Isaac met his wife, Lois Smith at Mansfield High School and they married while attending college. Isaac graduated from Arkansas Tech University, where he played football as a letterman and was a starting defensive lineman.
After graduation, Isaac started his coaching career in high school football in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He later opened the State Farm Insurance office in Heber Springs. He and his family then moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where he worked for the AAA office. When Isaac retired, he joined the River Valley Master Gardeners. He helped develop the Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing where the education building was named in his honor. He also helped procure a greenhouse for the site and taught classes on growing blackberries and strawberries.
Isaac’s family was his biggest priority. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Smith Witt; daughter, Lora Lea Witt and Angie Shelton; nephews, Phil Davis and Mike Davis and their families; brother-in-law, Owen Smith and wife, Delena; sister-in-law, Patt Conaway and husband, Jim and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Isaac was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Witt, sister, Nancy Witt Davis and his parents, Alford Witt and Helen Fancher Witt.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 19 from 5 – 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. A private family inurnment will be held at Union Ridge Cemetery.
