J. C. Carnes, 91, of Greenwood, died Friday, October 29, 2010 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Army and Riverside Furniture, a veteran of WWII and Korea, and a member of the Greenwood First Baptist Church and Harris Hannah VFW Post #6527. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Carnes.
He is survived by one brother, Charles Carnes of Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 1 at the Greenwood First Baptist Church, with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31 at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be VFW members.
