James Edward Fairbanks, 60, of Portland, Oregon passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024 in Portland. He was born May 31, 1964 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to John and Sonya (Elam) Fairbanks. He attended two years at Westark Community College and then transferred to the University of Arkansas earning his journalism degree. He was an artist, author and speaker. Jim was a multi-organ recipient and lost his eyesight due to juvenile diabetes. Even with all of Jim’s health issues, he was very independent until his death.
Jim is survived by his mother, Sonya Fairbanks of Greenwood and brother, Mike Fairbanks and wife, Karen of Russellville. He was preceded in death by his father, John Fairbanks.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 6 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.
