

Janie Corene (Carter) Langston went to sleep reading her Bible and woke up in heaven. Janie was born July 28, 1956 in Sherman, Texas to parents Hildon Harlon and Dora Christeen (Martin) Carter. Janie passed away December 27, 2013 in Charleston, Arkansas. She was married to David Langston on July 28, 1979 in Cecil, Arkansas.
Janie is preceded in death by her father, Hildon Carter, her sister, Cynthia Johnson and brother-in-law, Don; niece, Sarah and nephew, Samuel Johnson and her grandparents, Carroll and Myrtle Martin and Joe and Maude Carter.
Janie was devoted to her Jesus, her family, and her friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lavaca where she served faithfully as preschool director, VBS volunteer, Real Girls, Girls on Missions, Sunday school teacher, and Mission Friends. Janie traveled to share her faith in Arkansas, Alaska, Mexico, New Mexico, and Montana. She was retired from United Medical. Janie was a charter member of the Hellfighters Ft. Smith Motorcycle Ministry. Janie was passionate about sharing the Gospel with Native Americans, the biker community, and anyone who needed to hear the Good News.
Janie is survived by her husband, David; her daughter, Leslie (Langston) Duke of Duncan, Oklahoma and husband, Adam; grandsons, Aidan and Carter Duke; her son, Grant Langston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and wife, Raina; grandchildren, Olivia, Logan, Judson, and Naomi; her parents, Ed and Christeen Davidson of Lavaca; her sister, Susie Shaw of Charleston; brother David Davidson and wife, Laura of Lavaca; sister, Kim Riddle of Lufkin, TX; brother, Brett Carter of Lufkin, TX; brother, John Carter of Texas City, TX; brother, Clay Carter of Houston, TX. Janie is survived by many nieces and nephews, and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Levi Green, Caleb Green, Travis Michael, George Green, Mac Green, Jack Tate, James Kiger, and Phillip Bunda. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Green, Justin Green, Billy Petty, Wayne Green, and Donnie Green, Perry Reames, Mac Landthrip, and Benny Teague.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday December 31, 2013 at the Green-Tate Cemetery, which adjoins the Lavaca City Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Stateroom hours will be Monday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hellfighters Ft. Smith Motorcycle Ministry, 918 South 15th Street, Lavaca, AR 72941.
