Jerry Don Chappell, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, just 2 days before his 79th birthday at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma, after a long, courageous fight with cancer. He was born on December 24, 1945 in Booneville, Arkansas to Jewel and Hoyt Chappell.
Jerry, born and raised in Arkansas, moved to California where he met Robin, the love of his life. They married in December 1973 and have one son, Christopher, together. Jerry was a talented graphic designer for over 30 years when he decided on a career change and worked at the Valley Transportation Agency for 15 years. After retiring, Jerry, Robin and Christopher moved to Oklahoma to be closer to his oldest son, Richard and his family. Jerry loved his family fiercely, worked hard every day of his life, loved all things country and had a love for chocolate milkshakes. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Robin Chappell; his two sons, Richard (Beth) and Christopher Chappell; granddaughter, Sarah; his aunt, Mary; sister in law, Pamela Alfinito; brothers in law, Richard Alfinito and Craig Richards; nephews, Richard Anderson, Jason Chappell (Marie), Brian Chappell; nieces, Joerene Chappell, Kristina Rodriguez (James), Kimberly Alfinito (Marco Garcia), Kathleen Daugherty (Eric) and Angela Viveros; twelve great nephews; four great nieces and many cousins, who love Jerry dearly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Hoyt Chappell, brothers, William Hoyt "Wayne" and Bobbie Joe Chappell and great niece, Aeryanna Rodriguez.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, December 30 at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery in Booneville under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Chappell, Jason Chappell, Sarah Chappell, Richard Alfinito, Duff Sturgeon and Eric Daugherty.
