Johnny Matthew Johnson

Johnny Matthew Johnson of Hackett, Arkansas (formerly of Paris) passed away December 10, 2018, due to complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born August 2, 1939 in Paris, Arkansas to the late Matthew Curtis Johnson and Hattie Fitzjurls Paris. Johnny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Johnny was an independent minded entrepreneur having started numerous small businesses including a magnesite business in Southern California, Johnson Trucking Company in Paris and Johnson Coal and Machinery in Hackett. Johnny was known as an incredibly hard-working and honest man who was adored by his family and community.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Johnson; his children, Joel Johnson and wife, Debbie of Greenwood; Jim Johnson and wife, Amy of Meridan, Idaho; John E. Johnson and wife, Kristi of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Chuck Parsons and wife, Linda of Ratcliff; Donna Strozier and husband, Otis of Hackett; Jason Johnson and wife, Elizabeth of Fort Smith and Jared Lee Johnson of Hackett and his dog, Bullet. He is also survived by his brother, R.L. “Butch” Johnson and wife, Kay of Paris and nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his two sisters, Patsy Turner and Mary Lou Morris of Paris.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 12 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenwood with burial at Caulksville Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
