Joy Sue Tackett

Joy Sue Tackett, 89, of Alma, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 20, 2026 in Alma. She was born June 7, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Oscar Lee and Peggy Maxine (Garner) Gilbert. She was a retired Register Nurse and of the Jehovah’s Witnesses faith.

She is survived by one son, Alan Dodd and wife, Mandy; one daughter, Sue Helley and husband, Mel; four grandchildren, Krista, Karena, Alena and Aric; six great grandchildren, Issac, Caleb, Logan, Gavin, Silas and Saul and stepchildren who she loved dearly.

A memorial service was held at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Inurnment will be at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith.
