Lois Katherine Hicks, 87, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 14, 1933 to the late Harold and Doris Catte. After her natural father’s death, her mother married William Truitt who helped raise her and her two sisters. Lois married Gilbert Hicks on April 25, 1954 in Pratt, Kansas and they raised three children.
After retiring, they moved to Kansas, Oklahoma where she enjoyed playing golf, making jewelry and woodworking with her husband. Upon her husband’s death, she moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert and their son, Greg. She is survived by her two sisters, Marilyn Cade of Kansas and Alice Kinnison of Colorado; her daughters, Kathy Caperton and husband, Steve of Fort Smith and Pennie Clark and husband, Bobby of Greenwood; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was a sweet soul who didn’t know a stranger and will be missed by her family and friends.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 22 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with inurnment at Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
