Loyd Plunkett

Loyd Plunkett of Greenwood, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2016. He was born in the Excelsior Community on June 11, 1930. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and a lifelong member and Deacon of Excelsior Baptist Church. He was retired from Santa Fe Truck Line and the Arkansas State Highway Department, where he was a truck driver.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ina Plunkett and three brothers, Duane, Harold and Carrol Plunkett.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at Excelsior Baptist Church with burial at Evans Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.

Loyd is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frankie King Plunkett; his son, John Thomas Plunkett and wife, Deborah of Greenwood, AR; his daughter, Jean Ann Sterling and husband, Mike of Greenwood, AR; three grandchildren, Audria Bobbitt and her husband, Aaron of Broken Arrow, OK, James Stuart Reed and his wife, Amber of Greenwood, AR and Felicia Plunkett and Paul Frazier of Little Rock, AR; three great-grandchildren, Rebekah Reed, Hailey and Emma Bobbitt; one twin brother, John Floyd Plunkett of Greenwood, AR; two sisters-in-law, Effie Nell Plunkett of Fort Smith, AR and Laretha Plunkett of Fort Smith, AR.

Pallbearers will be James Stuart Reed, Aaron Bobbitt, Paul Frazier, Joe David King, Jim Brown and Odie Strozier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Plunkett, Ronnie Plunkett, Steve Plunkett, Bill Dake, Joe T King, Joe Dan Clay, Marvin Pearcy, Larry Williams and Ed Williams.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to caregivers, Carrie, Teresa, Silvia, Sandy, Susan, Cathy, Sheri, Kathleen, and Valerie.
