

Melvin J. Cullen, 88, of West Hartford, Arkansas died Saturday, January 16, 2010, from complications linked to injuries received in a car accident. Melvin was a retired carpenter who built his own retirement home in Arkansas after having worked and lived in California for more than forty years. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Wanda Cullen, his four children, Dora Ann Markle and husband, Bob of Poteau, OK, Jimmy Cullen and wife, Lorrie of McKinney, TX, Clayton Cullen and wife, Judy of Paso Robles, CA and Chrystal Striegel and husband, Scott of Lake Arrowhead, CA. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Reda Cullen and his grandson, Robert Christensen.
Melvin was very active, even continuing to mow his two acre parcel up until the time of the accident. He was a member of the Hartford Assembly of God Church.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hartford Assembly of God Church with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be from 1 - 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Greenwood, where the family will visit with friends from 6 - 8 p.m.
