Mike Slankard, 89, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 in his home. He was retired from the civil service at Camp Chaffee, retired coal miner, veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, V.F.W. Post #8245 and he attended Huntington First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Huntington First Baptist Church with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; one son, Jack Slankard of Huntington; two daughters, Debbie Slankard of Huntington and Janice Chapman of Huntington; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Johnson, Jr., Jonathan Gordon, Jason Chapman, Jason Thompson, Greg Michael and Andrew Moore.
