It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mitchell Lee McCray, a beloved father, papa, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 26, 2024 at his home in Greenwood, Arkansas. Born on June 26, 1968, in Vallejo, California, Mitchell lived life to the fullest, cherishing every moment with his family and friends.
Mitchell was a man whose love for life was evident in everything he did. He was a professional in his business as a builder, he loved what he did and cherished the friendships that came with it. He was a devoted father to his three children, Michael Andrew McCray, John Thomas Majiah McCray and Madilyn Leigh McCray, and took immense pride in being a papa to his cherished grandson, Kiell Dalton Honeycutt. His warmth, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.
Preceded in death is Mitchell’s parents Alma Margaret McCray and Charles Thomas McCray and brothers, John Charles McCray and George Clifford McCray. Mitchell is survived by brothers, William “Bill” Sides and Michael Norris and his sisters, Mary Charlotte Chappell and Michelle Leonard Bell. He also leaves behind the mothers of his children, Shelly McCray and Lisa Bichelmeyer, and a wide circle of friends who were drawn to his infectious positivity and genuine kindness.
Mitchell had a unique ability to bring people together, fostering relationships that lasted a lifetime. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures—Family, Motorcycles, NASCAR, building beautifully designed architecture, and sharing stories about how much he loves life, creating lasting memories with all who knew him.
As we gather to celebrate his extraordinary life, let us remember the laughter, the lessons, and the boundless love he shared with each of us. Mitchell McCray will always be remembered as a guiding light, encouraging us to embrace life and love unconditionally.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 2 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with a private burial at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday from 12 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
