Nelda Mae Rogers, 69, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 in her home. She was born February 15, 1955 in Hackett, Arkansas to Worley and Alma (Dugan) Farrar. She was a retired preschool teacher, member of Midland First Baptist Church and was involved with the Girl Scouts. She was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives.
She is survived by her husband, Kenny Rogers; two sons, Russell Rogers and wife, Kristen of Danville and Bryan Rogers of Bentonville; four daughters, Jenny Dunn and husband, Travis of Hartford, Wendy Thornburg and husband, Kris of Fort Smith, Deanna Shaffer and husband, Jason of Houston, Texas and Tiffany McGinnis and husband, Onye of Alma; one brother, Marvin Farrar of Sugarloaf; nine grandchildren, Mike Rogers, Sean Rogers, Bella Thornburg, Summer Marshall, Savanna Roberts, Jake Shaffer, Teja Spencer, Kayson McGinnis and Zachary Pennington and wife, Jenny and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, E.J. Farrar and C.W. Farrar and one sister, Linda Jack.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 3 at Midland First Baptist Church with burial at Slaytonville Cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Travis Dunn, Kris Thornburg, Jason Shaffer, Onye McGinnis, Mike Rogers and Zachary Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Rogers, Russell Rogers, Jordan Jack, Mike Niblett, Jake Shaffer and Kayson McGinnis.
