Peggy Lee McConnell, 78 of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 peacefully at her home. She was born August 30, 1943 in Fort Smith. She was an employee of Randall Ford and recently celebrated her 40th work anniversary. She was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Roland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Coy and Ada Vera Smith and her husband of 56 years Delbert McConnell.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Danny) Barnes of Russellville and Jennifer (Dewayne) McAlister of Fort Smith, twin granddaughters, Olivia and London Barnes of Russellville and her faithful dog, Ozzie. She is also survived by her nephews, Chris (Debbie) McConnell of Bella Vista and Steve (Margie) Stanton of San Lorenzo, California and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was a faithful employee of Randall Ford and considered her coworkers family. She always said, in her 40 years there, she raised three generations of Randalls. In her younger years, she loved to play softball and was in a bowling league. She loved to go to the beach or any family vacations and dote on her granddaughters.
She suffered throughout her life with rheumatoid arthritis. She faced many other health issues in her life and was known to never complain.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 21 at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, 895 Ray Fine Blvd. (Hwy. 64) in Roland with burial at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Sunday from 2 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 2 – 4 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Rob Woodhull, Lloyd Cardwell, Chico Gonzalez, Tom McMellon, Dave Newton, Jim Philpot, Brad Randall, Bradford Randall and Brian Schleicher.
