

Roger Ward, 92, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Fort Smith. He was born in Charleston on February 12, 1924 to Almo Franklin Ward and Laura Alice (Moore) Ward. He was a decorated World War ll Army Air Corps veteran and retired from General Motors, where he worked as an electrician. Mr. Ward was also a member of Fort Smith First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 am Tuesday, May 31 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Arkansas with interment at Liberty Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday from 1-8 pm at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6-8 pm.
He is survived by a son-in-law, John Morlan; numerous nieces and nephews including “the girls”, Paula Hutchins and Susan McCorkle; one grandchild, Robin Cooper and husband, Gary; two great grandchildren, Ryann Cooper and Scott Cooper and two great great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Ava. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Pam Morlan; granddaughter, Lisa Morlan; his parents, and eight siblings, Hazel, Hildred, Faye, Dorothy, Elwanda, John, Gene and Joe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Liberty Cemetery, PO box 1215, Greenwood, AR 72936.
